This is a great point. I’ve always wondered how they select the books we read in school… not that they’re necessarily “bad” literature, just very bland and unenjoyable to read… The Scarlet Letter and Ethan Frome are two that come to mind. Being forced to read these in school is a great way to make people resent reading for the rest of their life.
